The Political Life of James Stephen Hogg James Stephen Hogg, or Jim Hogg, was an ambitious Democrat who held many roles in Texas politics throughout his lifetime. He always had an interest in politics, because of his family background. His father Joseph Lewis Hogg was a representative for his district in the Eighth Texas Congress. Joseph also served as a state senator for the first Texas Legislature in 1846. James and his siblings were orphaned after the death of both parents. His first job was working for a newspaper giving him first-hand experience with the current political on goings. He eventually ran a similar newspaper focusing mainly on politics. Soon after he felt the need to be a part of politics and wanted to take on some type of†¦show more content†¦His friends persuaded him to run for Texas attorney general. With much effort and determination, he was inaugurated into the position in 1886. There were many campaigns he heavily led against the railroad and insurance businesses. Luckily, the current governo r at the time, Governor Lawrence S. Ross supported his cause and the some of the changes Hogg was seeking. He was successful in reaching some sources of change. Resulting was closure of illegal fire insurance companies and the return of certain railroad offices back to Texas. Following the return of railroad offices, he could seek help in repairing multiple deteriorating railways. The most memorable decision he made as Texas attorney general was the recovery of land. This land had been given to the railroad industry to be able to use towards new railways, but instead they used These decisions lead many Texans to gain a greater respect for James Hogg, especially those who had been affected by illegal railways and insurance scams. He held this office for two-consecutive terms, but Hogg was still not satisfied. Yes, he held a bigger role in politics than he had before and had managed to make some change but at this level he was still unable to make the policy changes that he felt were necessary. In the year 1940, many Germans stood in a square, saluting and chanting Hitler s name. World War II has begun and many Germans hope for improvements in the economy. Their leader is Adolf Hitler. Adolf Hitler, dictator of Germany in World War II, was a powerful speaker who caused over 5 million deaths in concentration camps. Though Hitler s impact can be felt in modern times, the roots of his atrocious behavior began in childhood—more specifically—high school. Years before Adolf Hitler was born, Hitler s great grandfather, Johann Georg Hiedler, was a wandering miller. Before his second marriage he had an illegitimate son named Alois– Hitler s father. Since Alois was illegitimate, he kept his mother s last name, Schicklgruber. In 1847 Hiedler vanished from the family and came back thirty years later to change Alois s last name to Hitler. Currently, many historians postulate if Hitler s great grandfather did not change Alois s last name to Hitler, Adolf may not have created the impact he had on humanity (Shirer 6-7). Alois had three marriages; his first wife was Anna Glasl-Hoerer. Unfortunately, it was not a happy marriage, and after sixteen years, he left. Sadly, his wife died three years later. A month after his wife died, Alois Hitler married a cook named Franziska Matzelsberger, through which he had a son, Alois and a daughter, Angela. Webber liked those wonderful stories about cats, written in amazingly musical words, from his childhood, and composed several musical compositions for his friends. Some of them were presented with success during musical festival in Sidmonton, where Valerie Eliot got acquainted with Webber. She had shown to him unpublished poems from the book, particularly, poem about Grizabelle, which stroke Webber by dramatic image (Elliot didn’t include it into his book, because he considered it too sad for small children). In such a way idea to create a big musical-theatrical composition about fantastic world of cats, which relations remind human world of passions and contradictions, appeared. Phenomena of â€Å"Cats† consists of many components, main of which, except of wonderful lyrics and charming music, are professionalism and talent of director, producer, choreographer and designer. Famous producer Cameron Mackintosh liked the idea of Webber and musical was created in extremely short terms – 15 months. Besides, to listen to the aria 1 million times, you’ll need 5 years. â€Å"Memory† was recorder 600 times by more then 150 singers, and Barbra Streisand and Johnny Mathis are among those singers; Placido Domingo also sang in together with Natalie Cole during his world concert tour. Difficult make-up, shaggy wigs and tails create fantastic gallery of actors, and each of actors has his own character. Colored skin-tight costumes don’t bother motion, and it is very important for such choreography. Unbelievable plastics strikes as well as easiness of motion, but this is a result of many hours of rehearsals. The next difficult task was creation of scenic stage.
